Inked Motivation is a non-profit organization founded by Kathleen Amelia – Photographer. What it is in a nutshell: I am going to travel to different military bases in the US to photograph members of our military with a tattoo that strongly means something to them. Not just like any other tattoo – this tattoo has to have meaning. Next, I want you to write something about your tattoo that comes from your heart. Go in a different room where it is quiet, with no distractions – and just write. Let your heart down on paper about this tattoo and what it means to you. There are no limitations. In the process I will be creating a book with the photos & notes that you have written. After everything is finished and put together, I will be selling the books with a percentage proceeds going to the United Service Organization. [USO]
Who is eligable? Any member of the United States Armed Forces, including active duty military, military reserves, and retired military.
When are you doing this? Inked Motivation starts right now! I will be photographing our military in Beaufort, SC. In the near future, I will be posting a calendar of events on what base I will be at next. Once that calendar is posted, you will have the chance to register. So keep checking back!
How much does it cost? The photoshoot is absolutely FREE. Book prices are to be announced.
Why are you doing this? I want to be able to give back to our military. They have done so much for this country, and this is my way of just saying – “Thanks.” Maybe during the process there can be laughter, smiles, tears, healing, and awesome photographs. =]
I am interested! Where do I go from here? Please send me an e-mail with the following: Your Name – Your branch of Service – Your location – Something special about you and your tattoo.
Would you consider stories from military spouses who are now widows who have memorial tattoos to honor their military members killed while on active duty ?
Thanks,
Michelle
Hey I am married to a marine.. I do have an america flag and Semper Fidelis on my forearms.. Let me know if you are interested…
What a fabulous idea! I hope you can find enough service members willing to share such personal stories with the world. Please let me know if you are ever in the Philadelphia/Delaware/New Jersey area…I have several friends in the military with ink.
